Hello Welcome to
Hello Welcome to MyTutorOnline
We will solve this by factoring
x^2 -4x -5 =0
We can rewrite above equation as
x^2 - 5x + x -5 =0
taking x as common factor from first two
x( x -5 ) + 1 ( x-5 ) =0
Taking (x-5) as common factor
(x-5 ) (x+1) =0
So either x-5 =0 or x =5
x+1 =0
x =-1
Hope this helps
